The Fleet Business Show
Part of running a business is getting out there to meet other business owners, employees, ‘one man bands’ or basically anyone else in the business world. Planet Wide City is very active in business networking and attends events on a very regular business.
In one particular networking meeting, we approached the idea of creating a business show in Fleet, Hampshire - a town that has great businesses based nearby and was crying out for something like this. After a few months of planning and very hard work, the first Fleet Business Show opened it’s doors at 10am on the 24th May 2016.
As part of what we gave to the organising of the event, we took care of the web side of things. We had built the website for the main sponsors, Fleet4Business so we added an extra business show page to host all the information regarding the event. We also created the mobile app which was available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. We had made sure that from an online digital presence, the Fleet Business Show was ready.
We also had a stand at the event. This was to be Planet Wide City’s first stand at anything like this. In the months leading up to the show and in anticipation, a rebrand of the company had been finished and this was the perfect way to get our new brand ‘out there’. For the show, we had a new popup banner and 2 mini popup banners created with the theme of our new brand. It certainly worked as most visitors to our stand had commented that they were drawn to the artwork. We also had a couple of laptops, an iPad, an iPhone, an Android tablet and an Android Phone so we could show off some of our mobile apps and websites we had created for our clients. We also had very large jars of cookies for people to help themselves. We had an amazing amount of success which I’m sure wasn’t down to offering free biscuits at all!
We were also booked to do a seminar slot in which I stepped up to deliver a 20 minute ‘10 don’ts with your website that you quite possibly do!’. With it being the first time we’d done a seminar, I was amazed at how many people took their seats and also over the moon at the same time! I had some very nice feedback, spoke to many people after, swapped details with everyone, forged a working relationship with an attendee and also picked up a new client. Not bad for a 20 minute part of my day!
With all the work we contributed to the event, we felt very much part of the team that put it all together. The event was an incredible success and has already been booked for 2017. We will of course be updating the website and mobile app for this show too! Keep an eye out for the date and if you’ve read this, stop by, say hello and help yourself to a cookie or two!< Back to Blogs
